The University of Dayton Men’s Rowing Team, established in 1991, is an exemplary example of a dedicated and highly motivated crew. We compete in statewide and national level competitions in which we continue to achieve success at unprecedented levels. Fiscal pressures and constraints are always present however and threaten to limit the size of our team, the quality of our equipment, and ultimately our success as a nationally competitive crew.

Our ability to expand and succeed in such a competitive sport has been limited by Title IX and the NCAA regulations, which state that Men’s Rowing is not an NCAA funded organization. Therefore, here at the University of Dayton, we are responsible for providing our own facilities, equipment, transportation to events, and maintenance. Associated with each of these is a large cost that the rowers must compensate for by paying very hefty dues, and doing all of their own fundraising. For the average college student, this is a very formidable task.

As such we humbly ask for financial aid from your business or person in the hopes that through your support and sponsorship of our organization, we will be able to continue to grow and excel in our endeavors. Our sport is one of mental and physical toughness, but it is strangely ironic that our successes can be handicapped not by lack of will, but a lack of means. There is no escaping the need for quality equipment in competitive rowing.

There are several recompenses we can offer you in return for your generosity. Advertisement space for your organization on our nationally recognized website, seen by parents, students and hundreds of rowers can be a powerful soliciting tool. Also, space for your name and logo on our boat trailer that transports our fleet to regattas throughout the country is an option. In cases of considerable donations, a racing shell will be christened in your name or one of your choosing.
While a small donation would represent but a fraction of your bottom line, the positive impact it would have upon our team would be immeasurable.
